I’m Alex.
I represent one of the many construction workers building Snowy 2.0.
Let me show you the scale of the project.
Let’s go through the numbers.
Snowy 2.0 is currently being built within the existing Snowy Scheme in Kosciuszko National Park, between Australia’s biggest two cities where power demand is highest.
Once complete, Snowy 2.0 will occupy just
0.01%
of Kosciuszko National Park.
Chances are, you won’t even see it when it’s finished!
Snowy 2.0 can provide energy to
500,000
homes all at the same time.
That’s the same as three cities the size of Canberra.
Snowy 2.0 will create up to
4,000
jobs during construction with thousands more supporting the project through the supply chain and support services.
During peak construction, workers will eat
2.2 million
meals a year.
Together they will create
27km
of waterway tunnels, plus additional tunnels for staff to access the power station
and build a pumped-hydro power station around
800m
underground!
The project will use around
8,000
shipping containers worth of equipment
and
36km
of hi-vis clothing.
Here’s Lisa from procurement to tell you all about it.
